Lady Marina Hobson OBE
1937 – 2026
It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Lady Hobson, our much-loved Chair, who died peacefully on 21 March 2026, surrounded by her family.
Lady Hobson was at the heart of the Hobson Charity for many years, continuing the work she began alongside her husband, Sir Ronald Hobson. Together, they built a charity grounded in compassion, practicality, and a deep desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Following Sir Ronald’s passing, Lady Hobson led the Charity with quiet determination, kindness, and unwavering generosity. She took a genuine interest in the organisations the Charity supported, working closely with her fellow trustees to understand not just what was needed, but how the Charity could help in a thoughtful and effective way.
Her approach was personal. She believed in supporting specific, tangible outcomes — helping charities deliver real, lasting impact for the people they serve. Many organisations benefited not only from her generosity, but from her encouragement and belief in their work.
Beyond the Charity, Lady Hobson was a devoted supporter of the arts and a firm believer in the importance of community, culture, and opportunity. She brought warmth and humanity to everything she did.
Her legacy lives on through the Charity she helped shape and the many lives touched by its work.
With thanks
The trustees would like to express their sincere thanks for the many kind and heartfelt messages received following Lady Hobson’s passing.
We have been deeply touched by the tributes from charities and organisations she supported over the years, particularly those with whom she had a closer connection as a patron or former trustee. These messages reflect the genuine care, encouragement and personal interest she showed in the work of others.
We are grateful for the kindness shown at this time, and for the opportunity to continue supporting many of the causes that meant so much to her.
