Our Approach to Partnerships

At The Hobson Charity our aim is to support a broad range of charities and maximize our positive impact across diverse communities in England and Wales. We receive numerous requests to form partnerships with our beneficiaries, and while we deeply value these expressions of interest, our trustees have chosen to focus our efforts on providing financial support to as many deserving charities as possible.

Why we prioritise grant giving over partnerships

Our primary objective is to empower a wide array of charitable organisations by offering grants that can help them achieve their goals. By spreading our resources across multiple charities, we believe we can make a more significant and far-reaching difference.

What this means for applicants

We kindly ask prospective applicants to consider this approach when applying for a grant. If your application includes a request for a formal partnership, please note that we will not be able to accommodate this. Our trustees are dedicated to ensuring that our funds are distributed equitably and reach as many charities as possible.

How we support our beneficiaries

The trustees prefer to assist with funding for specific items or projects, ensuring that our support directly addresses the immediate needs of our beneficiaries. Typically, grants are settled once the specified item has been purchased and fully paid. To facilitate this, we require the following documentation:

  • A fully paid receipt or invoice for the purchased item or project expenses.
  • A report detailing the impact and usage of the funded item or project.
  • Confirmation of whether VAT is reclaimable on the purchase.

This approach allows us to ensure that our grants are used effectively and transparently, providing tangible benefits to the organisations we support.

After you have received your grant

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to fulfil our aims, we are honoured to support your efforts through our grant programme. Six to twelve months following settlement of your grant the trustees would appreciate a final update on your project.

We kindly request that applications are not repeat or multi-year requests, as our aim is to distribute funds to as many different charities as possible.
